The Ocean County Screening Committee is recruiting candidates to run for office in Congressional District CD-04, Sheriff, and Commissioner. See what local offices are seeking Democratic candidates. What do these positions do?

The 2022 Screening and Recruitment Committee is searching for Ocean County residents that are interested in running for County Commissioner (formerly Freeholder) and Sheriff. Additionally, there are several positions open for residents who want to run for municipal level office. Those who are interested should email [email protected]

 

County Commissioner: Commissioners are part of the five member Board of Commissioners who are elected at-large throughout the county’s 33 municipalities. Each Commissioner serves as a chairperson over an area of county government divided into the categories of: Finances and Parks and Recreation, Public Works and County Operations, Transportation and Senior Services, Human Services, Law and Public Safety, Administration, and Environmental Resources.

 

Sheriff: The Sheriff’s office is dedicated to working with law enforcement agencies. The Sheriff serves as a civil servant who manages the county’s relationship to law enforcement.
