Day of Action
Dear Members and Friends,
We have an important opportunity to take action in our community! As part of a statewide coalition effort, we’re looking for volunteers to join a Day of Action on Tuesday, February 18, to advocate for the Immigrant Trust Act (ITA)* -- legislation that has been stalled for too long.
We’ll be visiting the district offices of Senator Holzapfel and Assemblymembers Kanitra and McGuckin to drop off informational materials and urge our elected officials to support this critical bill. While meetings with legislators or staff are not guaranteed, every visit helps make an impact!
📅 Date: Tuesday, February 18, 2025
⏰ Time: 12pm (10–15 minutes max)
📍 Location: Office parking lot at 52 Highway 70, Brick, NJ 08724 (across from the Rainbow Diner)
We will meet in the parking lot before heading inside. Zachary Dougherty, our District Captain from the LWVNJ, will provide printed advocacy materials.
We’d love to have as much support as possible! This call to action is open to everyone, not just League members, so feel free to invite friends and fellow advocates!
*The ITA ensures that all New Jersey residents can safely access public services, such as schools, healthcare, and shelters, without fear of deportation. By strengthening privacy protections and limiting local involvement in federal immigration enforcement, this bill helps build a safer, more inclusive, and more just New Jersey for all.
Even if you can’t join us in person, you can still make a difference! Email your legislators and urge them to support the ITA. Every voice counts in pushing for change.
Let’s make our voices heard and stand up for our community. We hope to see you there!
