Ocean County Board of Social Services Meeting
To All OCNOW Members,
Many of you joined us at the 4 meetings with the Ocean County Commissioners to urge them to get Congressmen Smith and Van Drew to oppose the One Big Beautiful Bill. As you all know, that did not happen. Now a tsunami of misery is about to descend on many of our friends and neighbors. SNAP was already set for huge cuts by 2026 but due to the shutdown, SNAP and WIC may well run out of money in November. Support for premiums for the Affordable Care Act will expire, raising costs dramatically and potentially causing thousands of Ocean County residents to lose their health care. And the huge cuts to Medicaid are just beginning to be felt.
Please join other OCNOW members at the Ocean County Board of Social Services Meeting at 2:00 on Tuesday, October 28th, 1005 Hooper Ave. Toms River in the Ocean County Resource Center. We will ask the members of the Board to share specific plans to deal with these issues. Ocean County residents deserve to know what comes next and what programs will be in place to support our most vulnerable friends and neighbors.
The public portion of the meeting is first on the agenda so please arrive before 2:00. Any of you who have a personal story to tell are encouraged to speak. Wear your OCNOW t-shirt or button. That visual always makes an impression.
