Ocean County Commissioners have an big impact on our property taxes and quality of life. In the 4 years since 2021 the amount of the Ocean County Property Tax burden has risen 25%. In 2023 the budget was increased almost $100 million from $365m to $456m.

How many people in Ocean County had a 25% increase in their income in the last 4 years? This increase is coming right out of their pockets. Controlling taxes and spending will be a focus for both Ken and Karen. Learn more about both of them below.

Ken Seda for Commissioner

Ken is a retired counselor and community advocate, who has spent his life helping underserved communities in Ocean County and throughout New Jersey. Ken serves as the President of the Latino Leadership Alliance of New Jersey, and has worked on policy and legislation that affects the Latino Community. He is a Board Member of Creative Change Counseling, a nonprofit organization that focuses on treating mental illness. Ken is a Member and past Vestry Member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Whiting.

Ken was part of the coalition that advocated for the Homeless Trust fund, and believes the County government has been slow in providing solutions and assistance for the homeless.  Ken will focus on cutting costs in County government, such as building expensive new buildings rather than looking at more cost effective solutions.

She successfully fought for the Council to pass a  rent control ordinance for Seniors in her home town of Manchester, and currently serves on the Rent Leveling Board. Karen has degrees in Political Science, Legal Studies and Journalism
